Re-imagined, Re-designed, Re-Built

A flood of new Major Taylor Cycling Clubs is in play right now. The numbers have exploded, and it’s genuinely fantastic. In the beginning, we were the only ones who rode in the Major’s name. We had sister clubs, like the Iron Riders in NYC or the Red Caps. There was MACC in Atlanta and many more minor start-up clubs, many of which would come to ride TOSRV with us.

We are part of the original club. We are called the Founders. We appreciate that.

We developed club jerseys from nearly the beginning (we joined in 1980 and helped manage the club up until 2020 or so.). We worked at being sophisticated enough to put together kits that made us look like we knew what we were doing. Looking back,  it was a decent job nothing what we had.

Our jerseys were distinctive. We initially limited ourselves to a few colors, as additional colors meant additional cost. Our goals were simple: Reflect who we were (The Major Taylor Cycling Club of Columbus, Ohio), build comfortable jerseys, and most importantly, look kickass in a TOSRV paceline.

Buy why?

Many of us founders are getting long in the tooth. We would like to give ourselves a pat on the back while helping the new clubs look good. It’s possible, and frankly, we don’t feel as if these make folks look like they are trying to be something they are not.  Instead, we’re reminded of what we started when we see these on the road. Yes, we are still rolling and still very proud of what we started.

It’s now your turn. Have fun.

But do your best to look good, please.

Thank you.
